Summary
1st4sport Level 3 Certificate in Tutoring in Sport (L3CTS) is designed to give an indication of your workforces’ competence in tutoring skills and requires them to demonstrate their application of the principles in their area of the industry– by delivering information to coaches, sports officials, sports therapists etc. The qualification is being used in many sports as their indicator of competence to deliver learning programmes and is delivered in parallel with the sport's technical requirements to tutor.

What will learners cover?
Learners will develop their understanding of how to:
- Plan and design teaching and learning sessions
- Deliver teaching and learning sessions
- Manage and facilitate learning
- Review and evaluate learning and own performance
Are there any prerequisites?
Learners must be over 18 years old to register
Format: a total of four days – three days training (split if required) followed by an assessment day at least six months after the training programme.
Tutor to learner ratio: 1 to 6

How much will it cost?
Partners: £3,000 per course
Individuals: £500 per person
Training
Alternatively, organisations or individuals can access the three-days training rather than the full qualification for £1,900 for a course of six people; or £350 per person for individuals. This option does not include candidate registrations, assessment, verification, one-to-one candidate support or partner consultation.
FAQs
Q. How long will it take to achieve?
A. The course will last for three days; an additional day will be arranged for a final assessment. Learners will have two years to complete the qualification, although the recommendation would be to use a six-month window.
Q. What will learners have to do?
A. Complete a number of tasks relating the delivery of learning, undertake an internal assessment of their delivery of learning and a final independent assessment delivering a session outline provided by their partnership/organisation.
Q. How will they be assessed?
A. Part one: an Internal Assessor will observe their session delivery and internal tasks. Part two: an Independent Assessor will observe them delivering a session, together with a viva and get an action plan for their further development.
Q. Will the qualification be recognised as CPD for your Institute for Learning (IfL)
Registration?
A. Yes, considered equivalent to PTTLS and CTTLS.
Q. Is this qualification for my tutors/educators?
Yes: if they don’t hold any formal (nationally recognised) learning and development qualifications.
No: if they hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), or a nationally recognised teaching or learning qualification, such as those from the Learning and Development NVQ unit suite.
Q. What about if they hold the D32/33 units or A1 assessor units?
If they are a qualified assessor (or verifier), but don’t hold a teaching qualification, then yes it would be a valuable addition to their CV.
