runningsports website

Client

runningsports (Sport England's skills and support for volunteers programme)

The Job

In order to help sports volunteers access information and guidance on volunteering, runningsports had a very real need for a website that conveyed this information. Since its launch in 2006, Coachwise promoted and developed the website, providing SEO (search engine optimisation), content and editorial services.

The Solution

runningsports launched its website in 2006, which included various content for download (documents, forms etc.), a workshop calendar, a helpful FAQ section, a secure sign-in option for tutors, and a data capture sign-in option for members.

Under Coachwise's management, the website was transformed from simple beginnings into the hub of the runningsports network. It became an absolute mine of information for network members – a one-stop-shop for volunteers.

In functional terms, the site was designed to provide different levels of access to different users, enabling runningsports to tailor messages to specific audiences. The site hosted polls that provided instant feedback, and was integrated with Google Analytics in order to glean insightful and detailed user behaviour. The site was easily edited by non-technical staff, which made changes quick and easy to action. Most importantly, visitors benefited from excellent content such as downloadable resources.

The Results/Benefits

Coachwise developed the website into a sophisticated online portal that acted as the beating heart of its passionate community. Marketing activity drove considerable traffic to the website, and the prevalence of repeat visitors exemplified how useful this site became to users.

In comparison to similar websites in the not-for-profit sector, this site exceeded all benchmarks.

What the Client Says

“Coachwise’s advice and support have clearly demonstrated their expertise in the field and taken the runningsports programme further as a result.”
David Gent, former Chair of the runningsports Advisory Group, Sport England
